Why Memorize Scripture?

Importance of memorizing the Scriptures:

“And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us..” -John 1: 14a

Note how most of what Jesus said can be traced back to the Old Testament? The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. When you speak the Word (scriptures), Jesus is there because He is the Word. And light and darkness do not mix. The darkness leaves.

“19 God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man that He should repent: hath He said, and shall He not do it? or hath He spoken, and shall He not make it good?” -Numbers 23:19

25 I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.

26 Put me in remembrance (of my word): let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.” -Isaiah 43: 25-26

“10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

11 So shall my Word be that goeth forth out of my mouth; it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” -Isaiah 55: 10-11
