Nightmares on a Night

On the night of the 6th heading into the 7th, I had a series of nightmares. I don’t remember all of them, but below are a few I do remember in stark clarity and sheer terror.

Nightmare 1: The Beast

I dreamt that I was somewhere and got an urgent need to pee. In the dream, my companion (my sister I think?) was in another bathroom in a building further away. I decided I couldn’t wait to get to her, the urge to wee was too intense, I had to use one nearer me. As I got to it and facing the entrance, I was overcome by a sense of dread. It seemed I was in a deserted place. It was getting dark; not too dark, just a light filter of darkness – much like those dark moody Lightroom presets. I felt a sudden foreboding and turned, thinking maybe I should hold my wee and go meet my companion.

As I turned, there was a “man” behind me, wearing what looked like a remarkably smart-looking suit standing and blocking my escape. A horrible realization dawned on me; he intended to rape me, and I just could not believe this was happening to me. I began begging intensely, hands wringing in desperation, all pleas falling on deaf ears. As he reached out to grab me, his face came into view. A face so terrifying – it was the face of not a human, but something that was a cross between an animal and a beast. The head was long, hairy black, ugly, terrifying. He didn’t succeed.

Nightmare 2: Phinehas, Ananias, and Saphira

We went to see a man of God and his wife. In the dream, they seemed to be a couple we were familiar with, though I don’t recognize these people from real life. Somehow I knew in the dream (I don’t know how, but it was shown to me) that the wife was a very wicked woman, particularly to her workers. Very wicked, but sweet and godly-seeming to outsiders.

Everyone that had come visiting before us had said sweet, bootlicking things to her husband and herself, practically worshipping them. The way followers of MoG’s adore blindly. Then came Phina, my sister. We seemed to have come in together, so I don’t know how I knew the ones before us had been “currying favor”.

As we sat there, she started speaking in a very serious tone. She told the woman to remember how “Phinehas” had sought to deceive the people of God and how she had been struck down. In horror, I tried to shush her, but she would not be shushed, as the woman looked on in dawning terror hearing her words.

When I woke up, I looked up Phinehas, but he wasn’t the one in the deception story…that had been Ananias and Saphira… Phinehas story was different, though it had involved killing a couple for angering God.

Nightmare 3: A Trip down Torture Lane

I found myself beside a stationary bus filled with people. I had this feeling they were looking down from the windows, watching us. I was with my husband and he had just given me a big amount of cash. We decided to leave the place, and somehow found ourselves in a vehicle; he was driving. Around us, it was somehow darkish, but with enough light to see the sides of the road, though now I think about it, our eyes were somewhat transfixed on the left side of the road.

There were open torture chambers strewn along the entire stretch of road. We saw body parts in some, legs far away from their bloodied torsos, people alive, waiting for their deaths, writhing in absolute terror and agony. In another section of road, there were humans tied up in gruesome contorted, torturous ways; bodies sooty dark and oily; grunting noiselessly in absolute agony with no chance of escape; truly horrifying sights. We were so terrified, trying to will the vehicle to move faster.

In the distance I saw an opening out of the place; my whole existence became about willing the car to get there, and get us out of there fast fast.

Then I heard a drawn-out krrrr-krrrr sound.

I woke up to see someone outlined at the door of my daughter’s room. I had fallen asleep there while waiting for my husband to switch off the tv in our room so I could come back and sleep in peace. The figure at the door disappeared; I had not seen clearly who it was. Was it part of the dream?

I quickly grabbed my blanket and hurried to my room. My husband had apparently come looking for me after having fallen asleep himself and waking up at a little after 4am and realizing I wasn’t there.

When I tremblingly recounted the dream, he laughed and told me, “It’s because you’re so cantankerous!!”
